From install to mastery in just a few minutes

First Launch

1

Install & Launch

Download Workspace Container from the Mac App Store. The container window appears automatically on screen.

2

Grant Accessibility Permission

On first launch, the system will prompt for permission. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable Workspace Container. This is required to control other windows.

3

Bind Your First Window

Open any app (e.g. Safari, Notes) and drag its window into the container area. Or use 1 to bind the focused window to the first tile.

💡
Restart the app after granting permission for it to take effect. If binding doesn't work, quit and reopen Workspace Container.

Two Ways to Bind

🖱

Drag to Bind

The most intuitive method for mouse/trackpad users.

  • Drag an app window toward the container
  • The target tile highlights
  • Release to snap the window into place
  • Drag out of the container to unbind
⌨️

Keyboard Binding

Efficient keyboard-driven workflow.

  • Click the app window to focus it
  • Press 1-4
  • The window binds to the corresponding tile
  • Press the same shortcut again to unbind

Container & Window Interaction

Move Sync

When you drag the container window, all bound app windows maintain their relative positions and move together. Drag the entire group anywhere.

Resize Sync

When you resize the container, all bound windows automatically recalculate their positions and sizes according to the layout proportions.

Minimize Sync

Minimizing the container sends all bound windows to the Dock together. Restore and they all return to their original positions.

Close Release

Closing the container automatically unbinds all windows. App windows stay in place and are not closed.
